Director of Community Service: Victoria Abrenica (she/her)

Victoria grew up in Spring Valley and started organizing at the schools she attended so her school could afford school buses and field trips. To unwind, she often found herself retreating to the untouched canyons her childhood home rested amongst. She noticed as her love and understanding of wildlife grew, their habitat and populations drastically dropped. This sparked her first initial step towards conservation and environmentalism.

She founded a grassroots organization hosting weekly service events, leading to Spring Valley’s first community garden, 50+ trees planted, hundreds of warm meals and supplies donated, and over 3 tons of trash removed from local parks, trails, and waterways.

As Vice Chair of Community Service for the San Diego County Democratic Party, she organized cleanups and rallies to restore the Tijuana River Valley, partnering with more than a dozen organizations and helping secure $300 million for restoration efforts. She now serves as the Community Service Program Manager at UC San Diego, leading large-scale service programs for students, staff, and alumni.

Victoria also serves on the County of San Diego’s Environmental Justice Working Group and is the former Vice Chair of the Spring Valley Community Planning Group and the Spring Valley Parks and Recreation Board.

As Director of Community Service, Victoria is committed to monthly service opportunities, expanding the committee to represent all five areas, and ensuring events are accessible and responsive to members’ priorities.
