Director of Communications: Sarah Shulkin (she/her)

Sarah Shulkin was elected as the Director of Communications in 2026. She’s passionate about fighting the climate crisis through building sustainable communities and protecting native plant and animal species.

n her professional life, she works for a non-profit that focuses on conservation and education efforts. Before her current role, she was a Field Representative and District Communications Lead for State Assemblymember Tasha Boerner where she focused on Transportation, Education, Youth & Childcare, and LGBTQ+ issues. Before this, she was the Public Engagement Intern at the White House Council on Environmental Quality under the Biden Administration.

Sarah got her B.A. in Political Science and concentrated in Political Theory at UCLA where she focused a lot of her studies on environmental policy. During her time at UCLA, she was the Chief of Staff and Director of Internal Relations of Model UN at UCLA.

In her free time, she loves to dance, do crafts, spend time in nature, and hang out with her poodle Phoebe and bunny Toby.
