Director of Membership: Malachi Bielecki (he/him/his)

Born and raised on the East Coast, Malachi found his home in San Diego when he enrolled as a student at San Diego State University (SDSU). Interested in public life and political action from a young age, his passion for pragmatic progressivism was solidified by the School of Public Affairs at SDSU, where he graduated with distinction in public administration.

During his undergraduate experience, Malachi served on the Elections Committee with the Associated Students, the student government body at SDSU. He has volunteered for several campaigns, most prominently Todd Gloria’s 2020 mayoral campaign, where he canvassed in-person and virtually to support Todd Gloria’s landslide victory as the first LGBTQ+ mayor of the City of San Diego.

Malachi is currently employed as a Grants Coordinator for the City of San Diego, where he works closely with the City Council to support community nonprofits. He is also enrolled at American University as a candidate for a Master of Public Administration and Policy.

Malachi’s passion for public service is deeply rooted in the pragmatic optimism that representative government and progressive policymaking can improve the lives of ordinary people. His areas of interest focus on housing and urban policy issues with an equity lens.
