Director of Communications: Jay Clevenger (he/him/his)

Jay Clevenger has served as Director of Communications for the San Diego County Young Democrats since 2025, previously serving as Secretary and Chair of the Bylaws Review Committee from 2024 to 2025.

Passionate about housing, transit, and foreign policy, Jay graduated from Atascadero High School and studied Mandarin Chinese at National Tsing Hua University in Hsinchu, Taiwan, through the U.S. Department of State’s National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) before obtaining an Associate of Arts in Political Science and Government from MiraCosta College. At age 19, Jay was one of the youngest delegates elected to the 2024 Democratic National Convention, where he proudly supported Kamala Harris for President.

When he’s not hard at work as an aide at San Diego City Hall or organizing for candidates and causes he’s passionate about, you can find him tearing up the dance floor, chatting up fellow trolley riders about the benefits of ranked-choice voting, or enjoying views of the city with his partner, Brandt.
